about your care
Natural integrative healthcare takes you into account as a complete person. The advantage of integrative care is that it works with whatever other medical or complementary therapies you are utilizing. Sarah has excellent working relationships with many area medical offices, midwives, complementary and mental health care providers and strives to maintain seamless continuity of care with your other healthcare providers as much as possible. She will do her best to help you achieve your health goals and in the event that you stop making progress she can put you in touch with other highly skilled area providers.
Unlike many acupuncturists who oversee two or more treatment rooms at once, Sarah sees only one patient at a time. While you are in her care you have her undivided attention for the duration of your treatment.

**Insurance can be billed for packages if your insurance covers acupuncture.
Sarah accepts and bills insurance that covers acupuncture and is in-network with Anthem, BCBS, Aetna, Cigna, United, Ultra Benefits and the VA. She can also bill Workers Comp and auto insurance claims. MaineCare and Medicare currently do not cover acupuncture. If you are unsure if your policy covers acupuncture please give your insurance company a call to find out or call Sarah to see if she has any experience billing through your policy. Availability and locations
Sarah is currently available at 54 Herrick in Southwest Harbor on Tuesdays from 9-5pm and Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 8-5pm. She sees prenatal and postpartum patients on the first Monday of every month at Birchmoon Midwifery in Penobscot.
Appointment slots tend to fill up 1-2 weeks in advance November through May and 2-3 weeks in advance June through October. Sarah is no longer able to see new patients who are seasonal residents or visitors unless they require prenatal, birth or immediate postpartum care or have an urgent women's health concern.
Because Sarah specializes in care for women during pregnancy, birth and the postpartum period she attends births roughly a 8-10 times a year. Because of the unpredictable nature of birth it can be impossible for her to know exactly when she might be called to a birth and for how long she might need to be there. What this means is that she may, at some point, be required to cancel your appointment on fairly short notice – sometimes on the day of your treatment itself. Sarah takes great care to ensure as much as possible that individuals already en-route to their appointment are never cancelled and that all cancelled patients are rescheduled in a timely manner. If you feel that this arrangement is not something that will work for you please let Sarah know and she will be happy to help you find a provider who will better meet your needs.
You will never be charged for canceling your appointment with 24 hours notice. Forgotten appointments and last minute non-emergency cancellations will be billed to you at my regular rate if the appointment can not be filled by someone on the waiting list. Missed or last minute cancellations due to poor weather and hazardous driving conditions will never incur a cancellation fee. If you do not feel safe driving in winter weather conditions please do not hesitate to call and cancel.
