Insurance

 

I accept and bill insurance that covers acupuncture and am in-network with Anthem, BCBS, Aetna, Cigna, Harvard Pilgrim, United and Ultra Benefits.  I can also bill Workers Comp and auto insurance claims.  MaineCare currently does not cover acupuncture and Medicare covers it only under very specific circumstances of low back pain.  If you are unsure if your policy covers acupuncture please give your insurance company a call to find out or call me to see if I have any experience billing through your policy.  Acupuncture is deductible as an itemized medical expense on you tax return.

Availability and Locations

 

I am currently available in my office in Southwest Harbor on Monday through Thursday from 9-4.

Appointment slots tend to fill up in advance. Patients are encouraged to be proactive about booking the appointments they require well in advance. I am no longer able to see new patients who are short-term seasonal residents or visitors unless they require prenatal, birth or immediate postpartum care or have an urgent OB/GYN concern.

Because I specialize in care for people during pregnancy, birth and the postpartum period I attend births roughly 8-12 times a year.  Because of the unpredictable nature of birth it can be impossible for me to know exactly when I might be called to a birth and how long I might need to be there.  What this means is that I may be required to cancel your appointment on fairly short notice – sometimes on the day of your treatment itself.  I take great care to ensure as much as possible that individuals already en-route to their appointment are never cancelled and that all cancelled patients are rescheduled in a timely manner.  If you feel that this arrangement is not something that will work for you please let me know and I will be happy to help you find a provider who will better meet your needs.

Cancellations

 

You will never be charged for canceling your appointment with 24 hours notice.  Forgotten appointments and last minute non-emergency cancellations will be billed to you at my regular rate if the appointment can not be filled by someone on the waiting list. 

Please cancel your appointment at any point if you feel unwell or have been exposed to someone with Covid-19 symptoms. Cancellations made out of a high level of precaution due to Covid-19 will never incur a cancellation fee.

Missed appointments or last minute cancellations due to poor weather and hazardous driving conditions will never incur a cancellation fee.  If you do not feel safe driving in winter weather conditions please do not hesitate to call and cancel.
